Roguelike Mechanic Implemented Devlog (v0.2)
Let me take a brief moment to introduce myself. Stay Cheesy Games is a duo gamedev studio consisting of myself, morbidlyocheese and my partner wishcandy. Together we contribute art and ideas, etc. While I mainly focus on programming and some art, my partner focuses on art and the business side. Although we both wear many hats.
This update was centered around implementing a roguelike mechanic into the game. Time kind of just flew by when I was working on this, I ended up working until around 7am. I would say I went beep beep.
I didn’t have too many issues, just some minor bugs. However I do still have one bug that needs to be fixed; more than one option displaying on level up. But I will tackle that next before implementing more features.
I did also include some screenshots from the game. Along with a snippet of code from the xp implementation.
Here is a list of things added during this update(v0.2):
- added new sprites:
- blue gem
- green gem
- panel
- setup pickup node/class
- xp bar & leveling up
- pickup range (magnet)
- added script for pickups node
- enemies leave drops (gems)
- added option upon level up
- weapon upgrades added
- option & upgrade
- added panel/particle for leveling up
Some ideas have popped up as to what sort of theme to go with for the game. So we will be working on that in coming updates.
